Comment: The holotype is either NMV A 9853, or one of three specimens registered as NMV A 13529. Of the latter three specimens, one was illustrated for McCoy in 1867, and the illustration is annotated "Gal. pseudoscriba / McCoy" in McCoy's hand. Coastal flowing streams and rivers east and south of the Great Dividing Range from Brisbane, QLD (27º36'S) to Doggerup Creek, south of Bridgetown, WA (34º05'S, 116º05´E), also becoming widespread in southern catchments of the mid-upper Murray River due to translocations, and from Flinders Island and King Island, Bass Strait and widespread at low elevations in TAS (43ºS), also at Lord Howe Island; temperate, southern circumglobal (excluding South Africa).
