Species Parupeneus heptacanthus (Lacépède, 1802)

Opalescent Goatfish, Cinnebar Goatfish, Small-spot Goatfish, Spotted Golden Goatfish

 

Introduction

Frequently treated as a junior synonym of P. cinnabarinus Cuvier 1829 or P. pleurospilus Bleeker 1853 in earlier literature, however both species are subsequent to Lacépède's description and thus junior synonyms of P. heptacanthus.
