   Status unknown, whereabouts unknown (MNHP 6684 and MNHP 6718-19 listed as syntypes by Blanc, M. & Hureau, J.-C. 1968. Catalogue critique des types de poissons du Muséum national d'Histoire Naturelle. Publications Diverses du Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle. Paris 23: 1-71, but not regarded as types by Eschmeyer, W.N. 1998. Catalog of Fishes. San Francisco : California Academy of Sciences pp. 3 vols 2905.), 'le grand Ocean oriental' (= Indo-Pacific)
  Comment: The type locality was erroneously given in Cuvier, 1829 as 'northern Bay of Biscay, eastern Atlantic' but corrected to 'Grand Océan oriental' (localities of Indian Ocean, Java, Moluccas and Tahiti) in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1829.
