  • Pterygotrigla macrorhynchus Kamohara, T. 1936. On a new fish of the Triglidae from Kochi. Zoological Magazine, Tokyo 48(8-10): 481-483 [481, fig.].
    Type data:
     Holotype (lost), off Kochi Prefecture, Japan
    Comment: Neotype designated subsequently by Kamohara, 1961, BSKU 7214 from Mimase, Japan, but not in a revisionary work and designation does not meet criteria set out by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature and is considered invalid.

We follow Richards & Yato (2014) in using this name. Some Australian workers consider that, as recognised, two species may be involved.
