Echiostoma microdon Günther, 1878 by monotypy.
Introduction
The genus has been placed in the Melanostomiinae (Nelson et al. 2016). We follow Kenaley & Stewart (2015) in placing the genus here. However, other works have questioned the traditional subfamily arrangement in the Stomiidae (Schnell & Johnson 2017).
