Introduction
This genus has been incorrectly spelled Caelorinchus by many authors following Eschmeyer (1990) and Sazonov and Iwamoto (1992), however the previous spelling Coelorinchus is now considered to be the correct one (see Iwamoto & Graham 2008).

Off Broken Bay, NSW (33°25'S, 152°03'E) to south of Cape Leeuwin (35°02'S, 115°02´E) including Tasmania, possibly to west of Rottnest Island on the west coast but easily confused with C. hoangi; temperate, south-west Pacific (New Zealand).
