Species Astronesthes lupinus Whitley, 1941

  • Astronesthes (Warreenula) lupina Whitley, G.P. 1941. Ichthyological notes and illustrations. The Australian Zoologist 10(1): 1-50 figs 1-32 pls 1-2 [5, fig. 5] [based on a larval holotype, validity of name has not been determined; name based on Latin adjective lupinus = of a wolf; Whitley correctly considered the genus techincally to be feminine; but now genus is considered by authors to be masculine].
    Type data:
     Holotype CSIRO B.1704, off Port Stephens, NSW [32°40´S, 152°22´E].

 

Introduction

Questionably valid as Astronesthes lupinus and based on a larval specimen.

Off Newcastle (32°40'S, 152°22'E), NSW; temperate.

Known only from type locality.

Australian Endemic.
