Introduction
Russell (1985) treated Guntheria devisi Whitley 1941 as a synonym of Suezichthys gracilis (Steindachner & Döderlein, 1887). However S. gracilis is now considered to be restricted to the northwest Pacific (Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan), being replaced by S. devisi in Australia and the southwest Pacific (B. Russell, pers. comm. August 2013, see also Kuiter (2010)). Russell & Westneat (2013) treated the Australian species as S. gracilis.
