Type species:
Saloptia powelli Smith, 1964 by original designation.
Introduction
Ma & Craig (2018) provided evidence that Saloptia is closely related to Plectropomus and treated it as a synonym of Plectropomus. Tentatively we retain the name here and it does not affect monophyly of either genus.
