Introduction
The species was described based on a 29 mm SL juvenile washed up on a beach in Sydney. Richards & Yato (2014) listed the species as an undetermined species. Previously Richards (1999) had listed the name as a synonym of Pterygotrigla macrorhynchus. Tentatively it is retained here.
