Species Pterois lunulata Temminck & Schlegel, 1843

Dragon's Beard Fish

Introduction

Records of this species from Australia from the Northern Territory have been reidentified as Pterois russelli (see Larson et al. 2013). Tentatively the species is retained here based on NMV specimens, but these have not been re-examined. Pterois lunulata was regarded as a possible colour variety of P. russellii by Poss (1999).
