Introduction
Species of the subfamily Pteroinae are highly venomous and brightly coloured. They are found on coral reefs of the Indo-west Pacific. Worldwide, the subfamily includes five genera and 18 species. Five genera and 13 species are known from Australia. Poss (1999) treated most species known from Australia.
