Genus Plectropomus Oken, 1817

Coral Trout

Introduction

Randall & Hoese (1986) revised the genus. Leis (1986) described the larvae and discussed relationships within the genus. Van Herwerder et al. (2002, 2006) examined relationships between Australian species and found evidence of hybridisation between some of the species. Ma & Craig (2018) suggested that Gracila was a synonym of the genus based on genetic studies.
