Paris : chez Plassan Vol. 2 632 pp. 20 pls, [pl. 13(fig. 3)]; derivation of name probably from the Green tessares = four + akantha = thorn; technically a noun, but often treated as an adjective, when Latinized in compound words; we retain the noun ending here; acanthus exists in Latin, but = a thorny plant].
