Species Gracila albomarginata (Fowler & Bean, 1930)

Thinspine Grouper, Masked Grouper, Red-edged Grouper, Slenderspine Grouper, Thinspine Rockcod, White-square Cod

Generic Combinations

Introduction

Ma & Craig (2018) found a close relationship between this species and Cephalopholis polleni and placed this species in that genus based on genetic studies. That placement contradicts morphological studies which recognised Gracila as a distinct genus (Smith-Vaniz et al. 1988). Tentatively we retain the previous classification pending further studies.
