Introduction
Often treated as Craterocephalus stercusmuscarum fulvus, one of two subspecies of C. stercusmuscarum along with C. stercusmuscarum stercusmuscarum. Both treated here as separate species, based on work by McGlashen & Hughes (2000) and Unmack & Dowling (2010). Those studies found complex patterns of variation with five different genetic stocks.
Distribution
States
New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria
Extra Distribution Information
Approximate range from Maryborough, QLD (25º26'S) to northern NSW and throughout the Murray Darling System, may occur as far north as Townsville but more work is required on this and related species to properly determine distribution; temperate.
Australian Endemic.
