Species Craterocephalus fulvus Ivantsoff, Crowley & Allen, 1987

Unspecked Hardyhead, Tawny Hardyhead

Introduction

Often treated as Craterocephalus stercusmuscarum fulvus, one of two subspecies of C. stercusmuscarum along with C. stercusmuscarum stercusmuscarum. Both treated here as separate species, based on work by McGlashen & Hughes (2000) and Unmack & Dowling (2010). Those studies found complex patterns of variation with five different genetic stocks.
