Genus Craterocephalus McCulloch, 1912
Line Eye
- Craterocephalus McCulloch, A.R. 1912. Notes on some Australian Atherinidae. Proceedings of the Royal Society of Queensland 24: 47-53 fig. 1 pl. 1 [48].
Type species:
Craterocephalus fluviatilis McCulloch, 1912 by original designation.
Introduction
Genetic studies have indicated a complex pattern of genetic variation with the genus. In some cases evidence suggests additional species and in other case there is an indication that some previously recognised species may not be valid. Further studies will undoubtedly change some names used here.

New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia
