- Caelorinchus spathulata McMillan, P.J. & Paulin, C.D. 1993. Descriptions of nine new species of rattails of the genus Caelorinchus (Pisces, Macrouridae) from New Zealand. Copeia 1993(3): 819-840 [832, fig. 9] [derivation stated to be from the Greek spathe = broad blade and treated as a noun by authors, however, spathulata in Latin is an adjective indicating shaped like a spatula; we treat the word as an adjective].

Introduction
This genus has been incorrectly spelled Caelorinchus by many authors following Eschmeyer (1990) and Sazonov and Iwamoto (1992), however the previous spelling Coelorinchus is now considered to be the correct one (see Iwamoto & Graham 2008).
