There is some uncertainty over the identity of Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean material. We follow Parin (2009) here. Other works (Parin & Shakhovskoy 2016) suggested that the species is confined to the Atlantic Ocean.

Extra Distribution Information
Probably widespread in Australia, but known records patchy, off Dampier Archipelago, WA (20°28'S, 116°32'E),off Herald Cay, Coral Sea, QLD, east of Ballina (approx. 28°50'S, 153°40'E) to off Botany Bay (34°00'S, 151°31'E), NSW and off Portland, VIC, Larson et al. (2013) noted no known records from the NT); tropical, temperate, Atlantic-east-Indo-Pacific.
