Introduction

This beautifully coloured species is rarely collected but has been found along the eastern seaboard from near Mackay in Queensland to the Sydney basin of New South Wales. It fits into Viraktamath's (1998) clava species group in which the males have an elongated preatrium bearing a long ventrocaudal process.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Face yellow cream with two round black spots on upper margin against ocelli. Apical margin cream, sometimes with pink or orange. Vertex cream with dark brown or black broad, transverse band level with anterior margins of eyes, slightly curved anteriorly over median section. Pronotum ivory on anterior half, dark brown on posterior half with black patch at lateral margin. Scutellum cream. Tegmen unicolorous, golden brown, transparent. Costal margin sometimes brown to midlength (dark brown in only known male which also has veins darker than cells) (Fletcher & Semeraro 2007).

Fletcher and Semeraro (2007) described and figured the male genitalia as well as the female ovipositor.
