Genus Carvaka Distant, 1918

Compiler and date details

30 June 2011 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

Zhang and Webb (1996) recognised five Indian species of the genus as well as single species in Taiwan, Austalia and Sri Lanka. Viraktamath (1998) added a further 11 species from India and arranged the fauna into three species groups based on the arrangement of the male genitalia. Fletcher and Semeraro (2007) added four more species from Australia, one of which was brought into the genus by the synonymy of Exitianellus Evans. Interestingly, all three species groups recognised by Viraktamath (1998) are present in the Australian fauna.
