Extra Distribution Information

A specimen lot at CSIRO (275mm SL) was identified as Brotulotaenia sp A from off Exmouth, WA from c. 900m depth (the same specimen listed as Ophidiidae gen sp in Williams et al 1996 WA slope checklist). It was later reidentified as B. nigra by Nielsen in 1997 (level 1) but re-identified again in Jul 2003 as B. sp A (non-nigra) by P. Last (level 3); the species is included here based on AM specimen from off Port Headland (18º27´S") identified by Okiyama; tropical, Atlantic, east-Indo-west Pacific.
