Introduction
Recently removed from synonymy with Atherinomorus lacunosus (Kimura et al 2001). Also widely referred to as Pranesus ogilbyi, a junior synonym of A. vaigiensis. Tentatively we accept Atherinomorus ogilbyi as a synonym of Atherinomorus vaigiensis. However, it should be noted that Ivantsoff & Crowley (1999) regarded Atherinomorus ogilbyi as a subtropical species from eastern and western Australia, but replaced by A. lacunosus (considered a senior synonym of A. vaigiensis) in northern Australia.
