Northern QLD including creeks around Cairns (ca. 16°56'S) and Ross River, Townsville (ca. 19°19'S, 146°45'E), also recorded from the Onkaparinga River south of Adelaide, SA (ca. 35°11'S, 138°30'E) but thought not to be established there; tropical

Introduced from South America, via aquarium trade.
