Diagnosis
Carapace subtriangular, reniform or elongate. Surface ornamented or smooth. Zone of concrescence not wide, marginal pore canals short, not branched. Antennula 5-segmented: first segment representing fused coxa and basis, first and sixth endopodal segments free, second and third as well as fourth and fifth segments fused. Seta CB2 very rarely present. Exopod reduced on Ex1 and Ex2 setae. Male antenna without sexual bristles, claws G1 and G3 reduced, z1 and z2 setae transformed into long claws. Mandibular vibratory plate with 2/1 rays, palp 4-segmented, 3+2 setae on second segment, terminal segment noticeably 0.5 times wider than long, and with central claw fused with segment. Terminal segment of maxillular palp prominent: 2 times longer than wider. Prehensile palps very often symmetrical. Basal segment of second thoracopod without any seta, endopod 3/4-segmented. Third thoracopod 4/5-segmented, Te seta absent, Tf seta sometimes present, terminal segment with 2 short and 1 long seta. Caudal ramus with posterior seta, posterior claw reduced. Lobe b with 2 dorsal projections: 1 sharp and well chitinised, other blunt lower and sometimes not well pronounced, no internal coils. Zenker's organ with minimum 5+2 rows of spines. Genital field rounded.
