Species Anabarhynchus pallidus White, 1916
- Anabarhynchus pallidus White, A. 1916. The Diptera-Brachycera of Tasmania. Part II. Families Tabanidae and Therevidae. Papers and Proceedings of the Royal Society of Tasmania 1915: 2-60 [39] [Confusion by Hardy (1921:299) and Mann (1928:160) with the species name and misidentification as Platycarenum quinquevittata (Macquart, 1847) is outlined by Lyneborg (2001:192)].

Diagnosis
Small to medium-sized species. Frontal and mesonotal pile whitish. Scape and flagellum of subequal length, the former brown-grey. Frontal calli small, levelled, subtriangular, with lower margin convex, whereas upper margin has a double concavity.
