Introduction
Division or Infraorder Orthorrhapha is used here as a grouping for several superfamilies of bracyceran flies with a simple, obtect pupa (see CSIRO 1991). While all taxa represented in Australia in the Stratiomyoidea, Tabanoidea, Bombylioidea and Xylophagoidea are included, the Asiloidea and Empidoidea are, as yet, incomplete.
