Introduction

This is one of two cavernicolous species in the genus Undarana and is known from a number of specimens from the Undara lavaflow in N. Queensland.

Ecological Descriptors

Adult: phloem feeder.

All stages: cave dweller.

Extra Ecological Information

Nymph might be phloem feeder or fungivore.

 

Diagnosis

Head and thorax more or less homogeneously brownish, head medially indistinctly lighter; tegmina with dark brown markings along the proximal crossveins, longitudinal veins densely papillate; wings without markings; legs brownish, coxae of forelegs distally with dark brown ovate spots; frons 1.6 x as long as its greatest width; compound eyes reduced in size; median and lateral ocelli distinct; pronotum 1.5 x as wide as maximum width of head and 5.1 x as wide as anterior margin of vertex; tegmen 2.4 times as long as wide; hind tibiae laterally unarmed. Length ♂ 6.0–6.4 mm, ♀ 7.2–7.4 mm. Length of tegmen ♂ 5.2–5.5 mm, ♀ 6.2–6.3 mm. (Hoch & Howarth 1989)
