Introduction

This genus, endemic to Queensland, includes two cavernicolous species. Hoch & Howarth (1989) analysed the morphological adaptation associated with cave dwelling in these species in comparison with their epigean relatives.

Diagnosis

Undarana is easily distinguishable from other cixiid genera by its habitus which is brought about by an extremely short vertex (and thus the impression of a short wide head), its broad, shallowly tectiform tegmina and the characteristic colour pattern of head and thorax. (Hoch & Howarth 1989)
