A cavernicolous species known only from two caves near Mt Surprise in North Queensland.

Ecological Descriptors

Adult: phloem feeder.

All stages: cave dweller.

Extra Ecological Information

Nymph might be phloem feeder or fungivore.

 

Diagnosis

This species can be easily distinguished by means of external characters such as body size, degree of eye reduction and degree of pigment reduction.
Compound eyes reduced in size; head and thorax more or less homogeneously brownish or medially indistinctly lighter; tegmina hyaline, without markings. Pterostigma distinct. Longitudinal veins conspicuously papillate. Legs yellowish, coxae of forelegs distally weakly darkened. Frons 1.3 x as long as its greatest width. Compound eyes present, pigmented, strongly reduced in size. Lateral ocelli distinct, median ocellus present, inconspicuous, less convex than in other Undarana species. Pronotum,1.6 x as wide as maximum width of head and 5.5 x as wide as anterior margin of vertex. Tegmen 2.4 x as long as wide. Hind tibiae laterally unarmed. Length ♂ 5.1–5.3 mm, ♀ 5.7–6.4 mm. Length of tegmen ♂ 4.3–4.6 mm, ♀ 4.8–5.5 mm. (Hoch & Howarth 1989)
