Introduction
Previously placed in the genus Pagothenia, however recent studies show that the species should be placed in Trematomus (Kuhn & Near 2004; Sanchez et al. 2007; Lautrédou et al. 2012).

Prydz Bay (68°35'S, 77°56'E), also off Adelie Land and known from the shores of Ross, Davis, and Weddell Seas so probably throughout Australian Antarctic Territory; Southern Ocean (to South Orkney Islands), possibly circum-Antarctic
