Genus Tetrosomus Swainson, 1839
Type species:
Ostracion turritus Forsskål, 1775 by monotypy.
Introduction
We follow current usage in recognising this genus. We note, however, that Klassen (1995) and Santini et al. (2013) provided evidence that recognition of Tetrosomus resulted in a paraphyletic genus Lactoria. We retain Lactoria and Tetrosomus, Previously no study has tried to resolve the definition, except for the Santini et al. (2013) who suggesed retaining the two genera but moving fornisini to Tetrosomus, but we have retained the previous classification.
