Species Tetrabrachium ocellatum Günther, 1880

Humpback Anglerfish, Doublefin Frogfish, Four-armed Frogfish

 

Introduction

Because of the similarity of this species to Dibrachichthys melanurus Pietsch, Johnson & Arnold, 2009, some museum records of Tetrabranchium ocellatum had been misidentified and some literature references may have included Dibranchchthys.

Northern Territory, Queensland, Western Australia


Extra Distribution Information

Northwest Shelf, N of Cape Lambert, WA (19°13S), with a distinct gap in the distribution between between 117° (Port HedlandO) to 126° Vansittart Bay, WA; to the Gulf of Carpentaria, QLD (141°29S) and south to Lindeman Island (20°27'S) QLD; tropical, east-Indo-west Pacific (Papua).
