Introduction
Frequently misidentified as S. spinosissimus or its junior synonym S. fasciatus by earlier workers. Kuiter (2009) considered Australian records of this species to represent two different undescribed species, one from the west and northwest of Australia, and another from the east coast. We retain the name S. hardwickii for these records until further work is done.
