  • Solenognathus lettiënsis Bleeker, 1860 [Misspelling of genus in description of S. lettiensis following unjustified emendation by Agassiz (1846), and inclusion of umlaut in species name].
  • Solegnathus güntheri Duncker, 1915 [inclusion of umlaut in species name in original description].

 

Introduction

Kuiter (2009) considered this species to be restricted to Indonesia with Australian records representing S. guentheri Duncker 1915. We retain the name S. lettiensis for Australian records until further work can be done to confirm their identity.

Off Coogee Beach, WA (32º07'S, 115º45'E) to north of Bathurst Island, NT (9º59'S, 130º09'E), possibly south to Albany in WA; temperate, east-Indo-west Pacific.
