Motomura & Senou (2009) recorded this species from the following Australian localities: Timor Sea (Ashmore Reef and Cartier Reef), Coral Sea (Lizard Island, Boot Reef, Ashmore Reef) and Tasman Sea (Middleton Reef). Elsewhere: Mauritius and the Comoro Islands to Pitcairn, north to the Hawaiian Islands; tropical Indo-west-central Pacific.
