Scomberoides commersonnianus Lacépède, 1801 by subsequent designation, see Jordan, D.S. 1917. The genera of fishes. Part 1. Stanford University Publications, University Series 27: 1-151 [60] (S. noelii was designated as the type species by (Jordan, D.S. & Gilbert, C.H., 1883) (446), but we follow (Smith-Vaniz, W.F., Bauchot, M.L. & Desoutter, M., 1979) (6), since S. noelii is a species of uncertain identity).
