Introduction
Andrew et al.(1995) considered Schedophilus labyrinthicus as a junior synonym of Schedophilus velaini. Last et al. (2013) provided evidence that eastern Australian Schedophilus labyrinthicus is genetically distinct from Schedophilus velaini from the Indian Ocean and New Zealand. Further studies are needed to determine if Schedophilus velaini occurs in Australia.
