Introduction
The subfamily Pseudoplesiopinae includes five genera and 27 described species, with three genera and seven species known from Australia. The group was placed in a separate family, the Pseudoplesiopidae, until Springer et al. (1977) provided firm evidence for its inclusion, as a subfamily, in the Pseudochromidae. Gill & Edwards (2004) discussed diversity within the family. Maximum size reached is about 6 cm.
