Species Pseudomugil signifer Kner, 1866

Pacific Blue Eye, Blue Eye, Blue-eye, Pacific Blue-eye, Southern Blue-eye

Introduction

Recent molecular work by Wong et al. 2004 recognised two distinct populations which suggested that Pseudomugil signifer may represent two species, a northern species from the Ross River, QLD north, and a southern species from the Don River, QLD south. We recognise the two forms as distinct species with the northern form as Pseudomugil signata while the southern species remains Pseudomugil signifer.
