Comment: original type localities listed as Upper Hawkesbury River; freshwater lagoons near Bronte and Richmond, Eastern Creek, and other tributaries of the Hawkesbury. Coastal rivers from the Burdekin River, QLD (18°40'S) to the Murray River, SA (137°E), but rare north of the Mackay region, QLD (21°32'S), and inland Murray-Darling drainage from Macquarie River near Warren, NSW (31°42'S, 147°42'E) and Lachlan River, NSW (33°29'S 145°32'E) to mouth of the Murray River, SA (35°30'S, 139°03'E), also northern TAS; temperate.
