North of Port Wolcott (20°14'S, 117.5°E) to off Kempsey, NSW (31°05'S, 153°20'E); tropical, east Atlantic Indo-west-central Pacific, two subspecies are recognised, with the nominal subspecies in the Indo-west Pacific.
