Extra Ecological Information

In Australia found in algae and seagrass (Heterozostera tasmanica); in the Andaman Islands found among fine to medium sand with a small amount of shell gravel; some of the sand was rich in detritus.

 

Diagnosis

Rostrum triangular, defined at base, extending at most to end of A1 segment 2. A1 8-segmented. A2 exopod 2-segmented, with 6 setae. Maxilliped syncoxa with 2 setae. P1 exopod-2 more than 3 times length of exopod-1or exopod-3; endopod not much longer than exopod; endopod-1 inner seta short and place proximally. Male P1 basis withour modified seta. P2 and P3 endopod shorter than exopod. P2-P4 endopod-3 with 2 plumose setae terminally. male P3 endopod-3 with spine-like projection. Male P5 exopod generally 1-segmented but sometimes 3-segmented. Female genital field without epicopulatory bulb. Armature formulae for swimming legs see table below; (formula follows method of Lang (1934); also see Huys & Boshall (1991));

Adult measurements: Females. Mean length 0.61 +/- 0.04 mm (n=11). Males. Mean length 0.45 +/- 0.01 mm (n=4)
