Introduction
This species has generally been referred to as Paraplagusia blochii by authors. Kottelat (2013) provided a translation of Bleeker (1851), which indicated that Bleeker's intention was only to use blochii as a replacement name for Pleuronectes bilineata Bloch, 1786, which technically makes blochii a junior synonym of Paraplagusia bilineata. Bleeker (1851) gave a description, but it was not regarded as a new species description. Kottelat (2013) selected a holototype, wich is the same specimen selected as a lectotype of blochii by Menon (1980) and referred to diagnoses provided in Menon (1980), Munroe (2001) and Chapleau & Renaud (1993) under the name of Paraplagusia blochii..
