Genus Odontanthias Bleeker, 1873
- Odontanthias Bleeker, P. 1873. Sur les espèces indo-archipélagiques d'Odontanthias et de Pseudopriacanthus. Nederlandsch Tijdschrift voor de Dierkunde 4: 235-240 [236].
Type species:
Anthias rhodopeplus Günther, 1872 (although the type species is generally considered to be Serranus burbonicus by original designation, Bleeker stated that lingual-toothed and forked-tailed Anthias species could therefore be united as belonging to a distinct type under the name of Odontanthias. Anthias borbonius Günther is of this type and rhodepeplus and chrysostictus also belong to it. That does not appear to be an explicit type species designation) by subsequent designation, see Bleeker, P. 1876. Systema Percarum revisum Pars I et II. Archives Néerlandaises des Sciences Naturelles 11: 247-340 [252].
