Introduction
Easily confused with Kyphosus bigibbus.
Distribution
States
New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia
Extra Distribution Information
Moreton Bay, QLD (26°58'S) to Houtman Abrolhos Islands, WA (25°20'S), and TAS; temperate, south-west Pacific. Recent work on museum specimens by Knudsen & Clements (2013) has shown that records of this species from north of Houtman Abrolhos Islands, WA, and from Middleton Reef, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island, NSW, are misidentifications of Kyphosus bigibbus. Records from Lord Howe Island may be based on more than one species and it is possible that the species occurs there.
