Introduction

This species is only known from the type locality of Albany, Western Australia. A single male specimen which looks remarkably similar in male genitalia is known from the Mootwingee area of western New South Wales but lacks the distinctive markings described by Dworakowska (1972) for this species.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: parenchyma feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Resembling Kahaono wallacei Evans, differing by larger size, distinct brown pattern on forewing, rather brown than reddish pattern on upper side of thorax and vertex, by thinner aedeagus, pointed at tip and tapering on its whole length and by upper pygophore hook pointed at tip. Length ♂ 3.7 mm, ♀ 3.9–4 mm (Dworakowska 1972).
