Introduction

The Australian Dikraneurini are endemic except for one species, Motschulskyia (Togaritettix) serratus (Matsumura), which appears to be an introduction from the Oriental region on Rosaceae. The bulk of the fauna is divided between three endemic genera Kahaono Kirkaldy, Aneono Kirkaldy and Dziwneono Dworakowska which appear to be primarily, if not exclusively, eucalypt feeding. Each genus has a number of recognised but undescribed species which will more than double the known fauna of each of the genera. The species of these genera are often brightly coloured with extensive areas of red, particularly the species of Aneono. There are also two undescribed genera with three species recognised in the fauna.

Diagnosis

Dikraneurini are Eupteryginae which lack an appendix to the tegmen but possess a submarginal vein closing all the apical cells in the wing (McAtee 1926).

Forewing without appendix; vannal veins in hind wing separate apically; submarginal vein in hindwing joined with apices of all longitudinal veins and passes beyond r + m or r vein along costal margin of wing (Dworakowska 1979).
