Species Ishidaella quadrata (Walker, 1851)

Compiler and date details

31 May 2011 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

The identity of this species is unknown. Evans (1966) referred it to the genus Kolla Distant which is where he placed all the species later transferred to Ishidaella by Young (1986) who regarded T. quadrata as unplaceable to genus. Day & Fletcher (1994) placed it in Ishidaella to keep it with the other species grouped together by Evans (1966). Walker's (1851) original description states that the fore wings are slightly tawny with tawny veins which differs from the blue black colour typical of other species of the genus. Its placement is therefore problematic unless the type specimen, which Evans (1966) stated was missing from BMNH, can be located.
