Introduction

All the Australian Cicadellinae are in this tribe which is otherwise pantropically diverse, including a particularly rich fauna in New Guinea. Within Australia, there are three genera, Cofana Melichar and Conoguinula Young in the tropical regions and Ishidaella Matsumura which has a number of smaller blue-black and yellow species in temperate regions, including suburban gardens.

 

Diagnosis

Posterior legs at rest with knees nearly always attaining posterior proepimeral margins and either male plates or pygofer, or both, with macrosetae or with microsetae not evenly dispersed; antennal ledges usually not protuberant in dorsal aspect (Young 1968).
